Pinterest by the Numbers Marketing By the Data Series 3 of 6
It’s time for Part 3 of our social media and data series and today is all about Pinterest! Pinterest is the fourth most popular social media platform in America, outranking Snapchat, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Who is using Pinterest though? Nearly 250 million people are using Pinterest every month and of those people, 77.4% of people are in America. Pinterest is a broad-reaching network for woman, and nearly 8%of women aged 25-54 are reached by Pinterest. If your ideal client is a woman in America in that age range, this is a platform that you’re going to want to be leveraging. A growing number of men are also joining Pinterest, with 50% of sign-ups in the past year being men. They are predicting that lots of the men that are joining are dads, who are looking for DIY projects or hacks for around the house. Women are using the platform for party planning, recipes, product searches, and just planning out life overall.
For Pinterest, high income and higher education household are more likely to use Pinterest than low-income households. If your ideal client is making $70,000 and above, you will want to be using Pinterest for targeting your ideal client. One thing that I also thought was worth noting was that 98% of people who pin something actually try it. More than 1/3 of Pinterest users are also using Pinterest search over Google. It is being used as a search engine and 59% of millennials say that they have discovered a product on Pinterest. There are people on Pinterest that are looking for specific products, to research a brand, and then make a decision about whether or not they want to buy. Along with this, 78% of users say posts from a brand on Pinterest are useful! If you want to know more about how Pinterest can help to grow your business, check out this episode!
