Breaking Up with Your Distractions!
It’s time to break up with the distractions! I recently shared a story about how I was able to grow my business and step into a CEO role, and this story got a ton of traction so I wanted to share it with you guys. I manage my own schedule for the most part, as well as manage my team, take care of my kids, schedule their nanny, and look after my tenants, all of which come on top of running my business and being CEO. There are thousands of distractions on any given day (especially now that the kids are home for the summer) and it can be such a challenge to make sure that I’m spending enough time working and enough time in my personal life. This is the third year in a row that we’ve nearly doubled our business, and it all comes down to eliminating those distractions.
Personally, I chose to start putting my phone on airplane mode at the end of every day so that I could spend quality time with my family without the distraction of work. That was Step 1 for me when it came to breaking up with distractions, and as time went on I really started to get more and more intentional with it. The biggest thing was getting control over my phone and how much I allowed it to be used for work or for social media. I turned off all notifications on Facebook or Instagram so that I wouldn’t be tempted to check it every time we got a new comment on a post or new message from a potential client. This was something that I also did with clients. I began writing it into my contract that we would not answer immediately unless it was an emergency.
I challenge everyone to eliminate all the distractions that you have from your life and really spend time being present and in the moment. This can help you to move your business forward without experiencing burnout and help you to grow as a CEO and entrepreneur. Keep listening to get all my advice about eliminating distractions!
