Currently, there are 1.9 billion logged in users that visit Youtube every month, which is half of all internet users. They watch more than 1 billion hours of video. It’s even predicted that it will be closer to 80% of all internet users by 2022. Another positive about Youtube is that it spans generations, and there is no one demographic that you can target. Youtube’s reach spans18-49-year-old people more than any cable network in the United States. Being the second most visited website in existence, it is also the second largest search engine after Google. More and more users are also watching Youtube videos on their phone, and this number continues to double each year.
In Canada, more than 50% of people find Youtube more engaging than television. Youtube was one of the most downloaded apps in 2018 and they provide almost half of all on-demand music. Since 2016, twice as many small to medium size business are beginning to advertise on Youtube.
Youtube mobile ads receive the user’s attention 83% of the time, which is startling given that television ads generally only get around 45% of the viewer’s attention. Their video ad revenue was predicted to go up 17% in 2018 and 73% of that income came from American video ads.
