Focus On One Thing To Grow Your Online Business
Entrepreneurs need to end the glittery object syndrome and focus on one thing to grow their online business. End the entrepreneurial struggle and take a different trajectory. All too often I see entrepreneur after entrepreneur, go through this cycle of creating a course or program or then they go and launch it. They create a sales page, nurture sequence, lead magnet, sales emails, webinar or a masterclass, and social media. This process is probably about two months of planning to do the launch and about six months to create the product. Then there is the emotional roller coaster of the launch. It can be time consuming and energy sucking. Perhaps the launch went, okay, or maybe it didn’t go as well as planned.
After the launch is over we entrepreneurs will often get this brilliant idea to create another course or another program. Then we go through this whole cycle again. Then we wonder why we aren’t growing a multi-six figure or seven figure business. I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to continue that cycle of struggle. Let’s slow down and think about this for a second because it’s sort of like the definition of insanity, right? We keep doing the same thing.
We keep creating a new product and we keep going through this process of creating all this stuff and we keep having this expectation of a different outcome. Yet we fail to go back and analyze the data. We fail to create systems to make that first course or that first program more successful.
I want you to imagine for a second, instead of going through this never ending cycle of entrepreneurial struggle, you instead created or had one signature course or one signature program. You created systems for enrolling people, you created systems for delivery, you created systems for everything involved in that program, and you made it the most exceptional experience that you possibly could. What would your life look like if you did that instead?
Instead of hitting the reset button every time you go through a launch. What if instead of getting that glittery object syndrome or chasing another squirrel. You instead took your creative outlets into marketing, said signature course or said signature program. I want you to think about what life could look like if you flipped that thinking and you flip that switch and you said, I’m not going to go through this and this cycle of launching. I am going to focus on optimizing one product, one program, one funnel, one offer, and make it the most amazing experience for the clients, for the people who are involved, for people who are coming into the program and really analyze the data and really looked at what made the most sense to do right.
Oftentimes we go through these launches and then we don’t really look back and say, Oh, this worked or that didn’t work. This ad converted and this one didn’t. We don’t take the time to really optimize the results. We just go onto this next thing.
Look, I’m an entrepreneur. I’ve been there. It’s hard to stay focused on just one thing. We are by nature very creative people. I want you to consider for a second some brands that have built their businesses on just one product. In the online world is Marie Forleo.
Marie Forleo’s B-School was the only product she offered for when she first got in her business. Other business who began with the foundation of just one product include: Apple, Microsoft, Michelin tires, MacLaren baby strollers, WD 40, Spanks, and Coca-Cola. These companies all began with a singular focus. When you have a singular focus, the whole goal is to make it exceptional. When you’re focused on optimizing just one thing, it becomes really easy to make decisions around what is alignment with your business goals and what is not.
I see entrepreneurs who are out there and they’re trying to launch two things at the same time. They’re marketing two different offers at the same time. Ultimately the consumer is confused, right? The consumer, the person on the other side of social media is confused. The focus must become on the one thing.
I give you permission for the next 12 to 18 months to focus on that one signature program. Every single thing that you do should be in support of that vision and of that effort. During this time, I encourage you to really dive in and enjoy this process because the brands that become hyper successful with a singular focus. As you’re in this process of focusing on this one thing, your job becomes marketing and figuring out how you can get in front of new and different audiences. The whole focus is just one offer, one funnel, one product, one onboarding process, and optimize it to the fullest extent of its ability.
I challenge you to focus on building your signature course or program and focus on it for the next 12 to 18 months. You might be surprised by how much can change with hardcore focus. I’ve seen it happen where people go from making, you know, $100,000 to seven figures with the focus of one thing because it’s all about growing and scaling your business. If you aren’t hyper-focused, then you’re going to struggle. I truly want to end the entrepreneurial struggle. So I encourage you to commit to just one offer, one funnel, and just one program for the next year. Can you do it? Let me know in the comments.
