Today I’ve got 3 Ninja tips for you to grow your social media organically. I’m sure you have heard all the fuss about the facebook algorithm and so I wanted to share with you some of the things that I see that are working and some that aren’t working in terms of organic reach in the social media world. There’s a lot of controversy lately when it comes to organic social media reach with the announcement that that Mark Zuckerberg made about page reach.
I want to take one quick step back and just say, I do think that that rollout of the, the page reach has been going on for a few months now. But I think the biggest thing, and if you read between the lines of what Mark Zuckerberg is saying to people who have business pages is that you need produce content that shows value to your community, encourages people to engage, and is of value. I truly believe that’s the biggest thing that people often miss when it comes to social media. It’s not just posting to post. It is about producing quality content that your audience engages with, studying the data to determine what actually get that engagement and then continuing to tweak and hone the content to build the community.
Tip Number 1: I suggest creating and producing really raw and real content. Now, what exactly does that mean? Great question! I think the biggest thing that is that you can’t trick people into commenting and liking. You need to actually produce content that is going to get your community to comment, right? So to do that you have to show value, expertise and not sound like a robot while doing it. So to give you an example, we have just over 1000 people on our business page and we regularly get engagement and reach of 500 to 750 on EVERY SINGLE POST. WHY? Because I am taking the time to think about what does my audience actually want to hear from me? Then I deliver that to them. I often write down questions I receive from clients and prospects and literally create content to share on page that answers the questions. I’m very mindful of the fact that the content that we put out there has to have a certain quality that and that it is showing value and it’s something that’s helping people take an actionable step forward towards whatever their goals are.
Tip Number 2: instagram stories. Instagram is still sort of like the wild wild west because hashtags are going to give you that extra organic boost that you’re not necessarily going to get on facebook if you don’t have an engaged audience. The other thing that is super important to remember is that when you do instagram stories, it also helps keep your post relevant in the news feed longer. So use hashtags or locations in your instagram stories, it will help to get you new organic users on Instagram. I don’t recommend spamming people when you do this. For example, if your content is not about facebook ads and you use the hashtag facebook ads that spammy, so be sure to keep it in alignment with whatever it is that you’re are talking about on the story.
Tip Number 3: Live video is huge right now. It is so important and it’s only going to continue to get better, bigger. Audio and video are so huge right now and they’re just going to continue to get momentum. People consume content on the go. They don’t want to have to sit and think and read and I know that that sounds crazy, but that’s not the culture that we are currently living in. Understand that live video is going to help you tremendously Facebook favors it and then you can use that video to repurpose all sorts of content.
BONUS: Tip Number 4: Engage: No matter what platform you are on, reply and comment back to each and every person (assuming they’re not trolling you) in a meaningful way. When you reply back to each person, this says to facebook, Hey, this person actually cares. Hey, this person is commenting, engaging in their community. Hey look, somebody commented, oh my goodness, the person’s going to comment back. That is only going to help further your reach and show facebook, instagram or whatever platfrom you are on that, that piece of content is relevant to the person. You can still get organic reach on Instagram and Facebook but you have to get more strategic about your content and getting strategic about your content starts with creating a content workflow.
