Challenge Yourself
This past weekend, I challenged myself to step outside my comfort zone and do the 4 Mile Newport Bridge Run… For those of you who don’t know, Newport is often, grey and windy. This past weekend was no different. So at 5:00 am I got up on Sunday to complete the run. A run that I had signed up for on a whim. I’m pretty athletic if I do say so myself but I am not a runner. Let me tell you, when I stepped outside, it was cold, wet and rainy. BLAH.
I could have used every excuse under the sun, to avoid going on this run but I set the intention, and I decided to stick to it. I share this because i think we often stay inside our comfort zone…we don’t’ challenge ourselves to do something different. This was very challenging for me! It pushed me outside of my comfort zone. It was both a mental and a physical challenge, and it was incredibly rewarding to have completed it.
The best part of the run was seeing my two boys at the end cheering me on. I have to lead by example and be the best possible mother, wife, and CEO I can be. That starts with pushing myself to do things, challenging myself, leaning into the fear and NOT buying into my excuses. I will never forget this run, and I will always remember the feel of the wind on my back, and I will never forget the cheers from my kids as I crossed the finish line. This week, do something that pushes you outside your comfort zone.
