When you Make Plans God Laughs
When you make plans, God laughs. Although I’m not someone who considers myself overly religious, this quote was one that stopped and made me laugh at how true it is! I had this great plan that January was going to be an epic month and the universe clearly heard because it started throwing me curveballs left and right. We’ve had quite the month here in little Newport, Rhode Island, with the entire island being without heat for a while now. All the schools (including my sons) were closed, and I had to figure out how to juggle both my titles as a business owner and as a mother. I had all these great intentions for things that I wanted to accomplish that had to be pushed back because of the chaos.
The old Jamie would have looked at the situation in a negative light, but I decided to embrace the madness and let go of the fact that not everything was done. That’s why I wanted to share this story with you, to show that as a business owner or entrepreneur, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. There are going to be plenty of days where you’re forced to work fewer hours and that’s okay. As long as you have the right team and the right systems in place, you can rest assured that the business will survive without you. Some days you need to rely on your team and let the business run itself so that you can take care of your own needs.
