Facebook by the Numbers – Marketing by the Data Series 1 of 6
Today I wanted to talk to you about some of the data surrounding social media platforms and their users. This is super important because this can help you to figure out where your ideal client is located and how you can better reach them! I’m going to be going through updated data around Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Youtube, and podcasts. I think this is really important because I’ve been doing lots of annual planning and part of that has prompted me to look at data, where I’m spending time, what’s working and what isn’t working. I wanted to share some of the data that I’ve been seeing with you guys. All of this data has been collected from Adobe, Hootsuite, and Sprout Social. Today we’re going to talk all about Facebook, and some of the data surrounding its users. Facebook has over 1.65 billion monthly active users and 1.9 billion daily active users.
Facebook is now the 3rd most visited website, behind Google and Youtube. As of now, 88% of users are accessing Facebook through their app as well. Facebook is a great platform for you to start prioritizing content creation so that you can reach your ideal client. Facebook is still used the most among all different ages and it spans multiple generations. This is one of the most diverse platforms and the older generation is joining Facebook more and more.
This means that your ideal client is more than likely hanging out on Facebook, and it’s all about how you target them. The average Facebook user clicks on 8 different ads each month, meaning Facebook ads are a great way of marketing your company to potential clients. A shocking number to me was that 2 million people are members of meaningful Facebook groups, and this number has doubled in nearly a year.
